This glass delivers a high level of safety. It is created by inserting transparent interlayers with excellent adhesive properties in between two or more layers of flat glass and then applying heat and pressure to bond the layers together. Even if the glass receives a particularly strong impact, it will simply crack rather than shattering, thus preventing pieces of glass from flying everywhere.
For security glass, an even tougher type of interlayer is used, to produce an even higher ability to withstand penetration, which is useful for creating homes with good security.
Ikeda Security Glass is a type of laminated glass where we have increased the thickness of the special resin layer to create a type of glass with even better security performance. We decided on the product name by asking for suggestions from group employees.
Ikeda Security Glass has been recognized for its high security performance, and we have been authorized to display the Crime Prevention (CP) Mark, a security glass symbol. We strongly recommend using a sash that has also received CP authentication in order to gain the full security benefits of Ikeda Security Glass.
The main shortcoming of flat glass is its poor ability to withstand tension, despite being able to withstand compression well. Tempered glass is a kind of glass that has been toughened in order to compensate for this shortcoming. Tempered glass is produced by heating flat glass and then cooling it suddenly in order to produce a compressed layer on the surface of the glass. This process increases the flexural strength and impact strength by three to five times compared to unprocessed flat glass. Tempered glass is also safer than ordinary flat glass because if it does break it shatters into small fragments rather than sharp shards.
Ceramic printed glass is a type of glass whereby ceramic paint is printed on the surface of float glass using a silk screen process and then fired as part of the tempering process. The superior design qualities of this type of glass allows for the creation of attractive spaces, by controlling light or the field of vision. This type of glass is also very strong and safe as a result of the heat processing.
Insulated glass is a type of glass with excellent insulating properties. Normally, a spacer is used to keep two panes of flat glass a fixed distance apart and a sealant is used to hermetically seal the space between the two layers, so that it is constantly dry. Creating a layer of air between the two glass panes makes it difficult for heat to transfer in or out, resulting in excellent insulation.
There is also a type of insulated glass known as the heat shielding insulation type. In this case, the inner side of the outer pane (the side in contact with the air between two panes) is coated with a special metallic layer (known as a Low-E layer) to reduce the heat from the sun’s rays, in addition to the insulating effects of the multiple glazing.
